Matthew A. Corsaut

With decades of experience both as a practicing attorney and as a licensed real estate broker, including successfully litigating, mediating and brokering Billions of dollars in of real estate transactions, Matt is known as one of California’s premier experts in Real Estate Law

Matt serves as Of Counsel to various law firms throughout Northern and Southern California and serves as Chief Legal Counsel to one of the largest risk management and insurance services companies in California as well as Chief Legal Counsel to one of the United States fastest growing companies as rated by Inc. magazine.  Matt also serves as Chief Litigation Counsel for one of California’s largest real estate brokerages. In addition, he is a licensed real estate broker and he also owns a residential real estate brokerage where he has brokered over $125 million in real estate transactions.  He also serves as one of the few Northern California Certified Mediators for the California Association of Realtors.  

A portion of Matt's practice is dedicated to alternative dispute resolution as a highly effective mediator.  As well, he is a Judge Pro Tem in both the Superior Courts of Sacramento and El Dorado Counties.  He also serves as a Settlement Conference Judge and a Dispute Resolution Attorney with the El Dorado County Superior Court. 

Matt is also well versed in Probate law, Family Law, Personal Injury Law and Business Law, having successfully represented clients in those areas over the past few decades.

Matt has years of business experience behind him to reinforce his legal background. A graduate of California State University, Sacramento's prestigious College of Business Administration, Matt went on to open his own business in Pleasanton, CA. Matt was the youngest owner/operator in a franchise of over 600 stores across the United States. In addition, he owned/operated the largest store in the 600 store franchise. The business was so successful, that the operation was one of the worlds largest of its kind.

Matt then attended law school at night while operating his business during the day. While in law school, Matt was the recipient of the Witkin Award For Academic Excellence. Upon graduation, Matt sold his business and moved to Sacramento where he worked in insurance defense defending multi-national corporations. He has also had the opportunity to handle a wide variety of other legal issues during his legal career as can be found in our practice areas tab. Matt is also a member of the Real Property and Family Law Section of the California State Bar.

Born in Walnut Creek, CA, Matt moved to Connecticut as a young man. With a lifelong affinity for both sports and business, Matt owned and operated a hauling business at 16 years old employing five. While in high school, Matt was named to the All-State baseball team. Matt played both baseball and golf collegiality and has won multiple club championships in golf as well as tennis.

After graduating high school, Matt moved back to California and has lived in and around the East Bay and Sacramento area ever since.

Matt enjoys spending time with family and friends when not practicing law or selling real estate, and is an avid golfer having played every course in Northern California, and many beyond.

Gregory P. Wayland

Gregory P. Wayland is a Partner at Corsaut & Wayland, specializing in real estate litigation, transactions, and construction disputes. As a licensed real estate broker, Greg brings extensive experience to every aspect of real estate law, offering invaluable insight into both legal and business perspectives.

In addition to his deep real estate expertise, Greg has served as both a city attorney and deputy city attorney, representing the Cities of Vacaville and Amador City, California. He also worked as deputy county counsel and later established and led a land-use department for the County of Calaveras. During his tenure as a department head, Greg successfully crafted a tax measure that passed with a two-thirds majority vote by the County electorate. Additionally, he developed a chapter of the County’s published code of regulations in an emerging area of law.

Greg’s legal experience, both inside and outside the courtroom, includes roles as an advocate, administrator, and settlement conference attorney/judge pro tem for the El Dorado County Superior Court. These diverse experiences enable him to deliver intelligent, cost-effective solutions when issues can be resolved without litigation.

However, when litigation is the best course of action to achieve his clients’ objectives, Greg’s tireless work ethic and expertise in the litigation process ensure he is fully prepared to secure results in the courtroom.

In his free time, Greg enjoys climbing 14,000-foot peaks, playing golf, and spending quality time with his family.

Nichole Cameron

Nichole Cameron is a Sr. Paralegal with Corsaut & Wayland, LLP.  She is instrumental in providing a positive client experience through detail-oriented work product, and attentiveness in client inquiries and communication.

She is a graduate of the UC Davis' Paralegal Studies Program, where she obtained her Paralegal Certificate with a 4.0 GPA.  Her background includes multiple subject matter areas including Real Estate, Construction, Labor and Employment, and Family Law.  Nichole's extensive experience and proactive mindset are invaluable assets to the clients of Corsaut & Wayland.

When she is not at work, she is busy raising her family and competing in equestrian events with her thoroughbred "Haddie."
